I've done the 'going to church' thing, and I was even 'sprinkled' as a Mennonite, but I found that I learnt more just by reading God's word, and letting the Holy Ghost teach me, than by sitting in a pew.

I found myself getting to that place as well. I was raised Pentecostal, went to a calvinist church for a while. Now i am back in a pentecostal church, mainly for fellowship. Not that i disagree with the beliefs or anything, and thankfully the church i attend now isn't legalistic like the pentecostal churches i was raised in.

At the moment, I'm attending a Baptist church. I'm not big on denominational loyalties, however. As long as a local congregation is preaching the word of God and doing what it can to do His work, I'd be happy to be a member there.

I attended a non-denom growing up, and it's currently what I'm attending now. The big differences are that the old church was an aged congregation of ~30 people, and my current fellowship averages ~1,400 per Sunday. (after adding up both services) There are definitely downsides to large churches, but it's great for finding people your age. (ideally, ones who do more than simply "attend" church) As an aside, don't buy the lie that you can be a healthy, growing Christian who doesn't belong to a local church body. You may not necessarily be backsliding, but it's simply unscriptural. (and naive/stubborn) There are no examples of loners in the New Testament.

I grew up in nondenominational churches, but last year God called me to the local baptist church here where I live. It's very different in a lot of ways than what I grew up with, but still similar enough that it wasn't too weird of a jump.

I attend a Baptist Church, but I am probably more reformed in my theology. Judson
