In the last thread.....Princess Donna announced that her youngest is now weaned.....and she has accumulated 63 months (5 years 3 months) of nursing her children!

Wow.....

Are you going to have a weaning feast/party like Abraham Donna?

Oh YAY...a new thread!!!!!

Let's see....Justice is still nursing. So far he has made it to passed when Jack stopped nursing...20 months. So YAY!!!! My ultimate goal was to have one go to 2 years, but we will see. I am all about letting them wean when they are ready and not pushing my own agenda on them...btdt with my first and it was horrid!!

Hmmm...so far I have nursed for... 80 months (6 years 8 months). WOWZERS!!!! That's a lot of nursing!!!

Hello.

Let's see ... so far I have nursed 9 months, 2 weeks and 1 day. Doesn't sound nearly as impressive, but I'm proud of my hard work thus far. Especially when I have nights where she sleeps latched on and that I'm pumping part time and haven't had to supplement with formula more than about 2 bottles the entire time.

Donna, I have a question that I never thought to ask before. How did the hysterectomy affect your milk supply? Did it?

Thanks.

And to add to part of the discussion that I missed recently ...... the only time I've leaked was the day after my milk came in. I woke up in a super crusty t-shirt. That day we went to Target and bought some of the pads and a couple more nursing bras so I can wear one to bed. Never really leaked after that, but would drip onto the pad quite a bit. The pads came in very useful when Audrey and I were passing thrush back and forth for a month too. I could apply the meds and then put the pad on so my bra didn't get all yucky.

I nursed a total of 18 months, but I think i should get extra credit for the first three!

Wahhh I'm no longer a nursing mama in the new thread.... Better get to working on that huh?

Our doc today was SHOCKED when I told him I "weaned" Isaac. He said "You did what? why?" I told him well it really wasnt "weaning" I just quit offering, he quit asking, and we went our merry way. He only asked once, I said "not right now" and that was that.

Erin..you should get extra Kudos..you and tea tea...you both faced enormous odds in getting baby to nurse...and won!

Since everyone is posting total time nursing...I'll do it too..

Firstborn 18 months

Second born 30 months

third born 44 months

fourth born 48 months

Fifth born 36 months

for a total of 176 months (or 14 2/3 years).

And I am due in May...so will be adding to that total. Granted...it took 5 kids to get that number.....

and any amount is something to be applauded...from 6 weeks to however long......

Ok, I guess I can't help myself. A WOF thread is to tempting to pass up.

Beth is almost 14 months and nursing twice a day, just before nap and bedtime. Nathan nursed till 15 months, so that makes a total of 29 months for me. I think Beth will probably go to 15 months, and that will be an even 2.5 years total.

I leaked up until very recently; I almost always leak, and quite frankly, I'd be surprised if Beth is getting very much milk at all these days, because I'm not leaking. I am definitely looking forward to getting new non-nursing bras, and I will absolutely be throwing myself a pizza and ice cream party once Beth is totally weaned.

Oh my Ruth, I think I'd have a dairy day if I were you.

Cheese, Ice Cream, Pizza, pudding.. everything that I could find with dairy in it.

We did 18 months with Isabel and however long the next ones wants is fine with me!!

I am tempted to ask my stepmom, mom to 7, how long total she's nursed but I think I might pass out !!

19 x 6 months (didn't I hear somewhere that thats about the average for her?)=114 months...divided by 12= 9.5 YEARS (of course she has some twins in there too) but yeah...wow...

Oh boy! New thread fun!
I've nursed:
#1: 12mo
#2: 8mo
#3: 5mo
#4: 13mo
#5: 7mo and counting!

45mo or 3.75 years so far.

not bad.

I didn't really even begin to enjoy nursing till my 4th. Seriously.

Nope, not at all. She nursed about an hour after the surgery, and kept right on going.

Christine, that is an awesome amount of time, especially for a first baby of a working mom! Great job!!!!

WOF...wow. Just wow. LOL

A new thread!

I have been nursing Dylan... wow it will be 5 months on Saturday! I am so proud of myself, and it has been relatively easy, besides me being stupid and taking Sudafed here in Jan. and killing my supply for 2 days. Lots of Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle, and lots and lots of nursing and it is back up.

I think I'll win for the shortest time(for now)! Josh - 2 days then he wouldn't latch and I pumped for 9 months (some formula at the beginning and increasing amounts from 6-9 mo). Beth - 1 month, 2 days and counting! She took to it like a champ in the recovery room and hasn't looked back since. We've had some ups and downs but all in all things are going VERY well.

I leak a lot. With Josh I didn't stop leaking until my milk nearly ran dry. When Beth was 3 days old I had to send Mark to target to buy breast pads because I was soaking my bras and gowns in the hospital. Can I just suggest having all your breastfeeding supplies in the house ahead of time? Poor guy spent 15 minutes in the feminine hygiene department before he called me to ask where they were!

My nursing:

Nadia: 24 mo's
Rhys: 18 mo's and counting.

I recently overcame a nursing obstacle. With Nadia towards the end she would just nurse in the morning laying in bed next to me. Well things are so different with Rhys. I only nurse him in the easy chair in his room. But as he's been getting bigger he seems to not be able to keep a latch. Either he was getting down lower, or my breasts are getting smaller (ie - don't hang as far. ) So I figured out a different way to sit and it worked! YAY! Lemmee just say that boy is getting so big!

wow- 5 years for 3 kids....

I don't know how you working moms do it- all the pumping and bottles- any time you can manage is amazing. I also agree that Tammy TT and Erin get "extra" points! You both could have easily given up!

Well I wasn't going to post since we are done nursing, but what the heck, why not?

#1 8ish weeks
#2 12ish weeks
#3 12ish weeks
#4 8 months

I think if I hadn't gotten pregnant we'd probably be still nursing. But to be honest, I'm relieved to be done for now and I am looking forward to the next baby.

Too cool Sarah!

We've all nursed longer than most of us have been alive (I will be 41 this months...so even I am younger than our cumulative years of nursing).

I nursed Gabe and Zion both 6 months each and Gideon 13 - 14 months, so that puts us over the 50 year mark. :)

Hoping to go at least a year with this one also.
