I would like to talk to someone about creating simple graphics for evangelism/discipleship/group study publications. Does anyone here draw pictures to order? Have you got some samples I can look at to see the style? Alternatively, can you point me to a ‘clipart’ forum?

I write study materials in the form of Christian teaching manuals and loose-leaf pdf pages. A simple graphic illustrating the concept (1 or 2 per study) is what I usually go for. For example:
http://5loaves2fishes.net/pdfs/christian.pdf and ...
http://5loaves2fishes.net/pdfs/study3.pdf and …
http://5loaves2fishes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2255

However, my graphics do not have a consistent style. This is because they have been gathered ad-hoc every time I produce a new study. I've done everything from stick figures to photographs but what I'm looking for is something in-between. A clipart style similar to the links above is about right.

I would prefer vector art (wmf. files?) so if needs be I can make small edits then save it as a gif or png later.

If you think you can help please reply or PM.

Chris

CyberSeeker,

I am a freelance graphic designer with six years of experience. I am quite familiar with vector art, and can provide you with work in any format that you desire, including .wmf.

Please take a look at my profile at mnlovdal.com, and e-mail me at cmikeff(@)gmail.com if you're interested in my services!

cheers & God bless,

Mike Lovdal, aka Locke

This is the hard part; trying to convey whats in my head without expecting the hard working artist to draw preliminary samples only for me to say, "nah that's too fancy", or "nah that's not fancy enough."

Didja see that link of the man with a hole in his heart? That's about the level. Simple - but not 'stick-man' simple. Slightly comic style - but conveying a serious concept.

Up till now Ive cribbed bit of art from clipart files and hacked them around in CorelDraw. But I'm no artist. Here is an example of my humble efforts. Don't laugh. But it conveys the idea. http://5loaves2fishes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=4456

Now I need an artist who can tweak my pics up a notch or two. But don't blind me with Spiderman in technicolor. I want simple!

OK, here's a suggestion. Someone has just got saved. They are 'happy'. Can you do a rough sketch of 'happy' and tell me what your fee would be to bring it up to a wmf in color.

Thanks,

Cyber

Cyberseeker,

Yes, I looked over all of your links. Here is a quick rough as you requested:

I can do these for you at $10 an image, in color in .wmf format. Higher detail, color "zones," shading, effects, and multiple edits will take a little more time and expense.

cheers,

Mike
