Gardens have had a significant role in the story of our God. Can you think of any and their significance?

In The OT, water signifies cleansing(conviction looking forward to the Messiah)and sustenance; the work of the Holy Spirit. In the NT, water signifies sustenance(conviction looking back to Jesus' obedience/Victory that redeemed souls share)and identification with him and his church. A lush 'garden' thus signifies growth, fruit, obedience and in an abundance of 'water'.

The climate of Isreal was largely arid. However, water would turn dry land into a lush garden. Same way with a man's heart: from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh.

"And their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow." Jeremiah 31:12-13. "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." (But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.) John 7:38-39. "You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail." Isaiah 58:11. "Jesus answered and said unto her, 'Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.'" John 4:13-14 "And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day..." Genesis 3:8. "When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered. And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place: for Jesus often met there with His disciples." John 18:1-2. "Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane..." Mark 14:32 Is not describing a man's heart as a watered garden beautiful imagery? I assure you that a watered garden means a great deal to those who have known severe drought. So for those who have a great yearning thirst in their souls, how can a man's heart be like a watered garden? He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Using the methods for discerning shadows... quote:
ORIGINAL: pinopolitan "And their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow." Jeremiah 31:12-13. This is an odd phrase for the literal and it is intended to call attention to itself "Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together:" In this hermeneutic it implies that the virgin is young men and old men together. It is a riddle which requires meditation. Consider that is is the woman who was deceived (1Ti 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.) and so the shadows use the female to mean "not seeing clearly, and in contrast the male is used for "seeing clearly". Now the Gnostics used the methods of the hermeneutic, but they didn't follow the rules, so their conclusions are often wrong ans significantly so when talking of the nature of God, however, they had a saying that "the woman must become a man". It simply means that those not seeing clearly must see clearly" or as Jesus taught that the blind must see. The saying is extended by others to say "The man must become a virgin" and this simply means that those who see clearly must become the bride of Christ. The bride is one with the groom just as we are to abide in Christ, walk with him and keep his commandments. Yes, it is the duty of the wife to obey her husband (Eph 5:33). So what does this have to do with the garden? This imagery along with the surrounding text points to the garden in Revelation Re 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. In this garden man and God walk together as they did in the beginning. When you "abide in Christ" you are getting a taste of it already. quote:
"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." (But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.) John 7:38-39. quote:
"And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day..." Genesis 3:8. Gen 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. In this hermeneutic, the verse points back to the garden of Eden. Water always represents the word of God, and in Eden he started speaking in four voices, those of the prophet, king, priest and judge. In the shadows the prophets and judges all die. Prophets die representing that all prophecies have been fulfilled. Judges die representing that judgment ceases and grace abounds. So the living waters represent the voices of the king and priest. So when your heart flows like rivers of living waters, it means you will walk with the king and priest forever, and you will be like him. quote:
"You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail." Isaiah 58:11. Since we will both be "like a watered garden" and "like Christ. The hermeneutic says that Christ himself is the watered garden, and therefor when the water and blood flows from his side it is an image of living water. "Life is in the blood". This cooperated with the imagery of the unbridled donkey being the Son. The donkey is always a prophet, and the unbridled donkey is the Son who is THE prophet. As such, he speaks freely as a prophet, and every word is the word of God, whereas the prophet is "bridled" and speaks when God tells him to speak. When you share the word of God, you are a wellspring of the living word to those around you. quote:
Is not describing a man's heart as a watered garden beautiful imagery? I assure you that a watered garden means a great deal to those who have known severe drought. So for those who have a great yearning thirst in their souls, how can a man's heart be like a watered garden? All the pictures flow together to say that when we are one with him, and walk with him, we speak the word of God to the world around us. "Our [thirsty, dry ] cup overflows." He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
