I'm not sure why I'm posting this. I'm kind of a lost soul right now and i'm trying to find my place in the world. I feel like I want to embrace Christianity because its so positive and uplifting. I've been considering going to a church sometime soon.

The problem is that I believe in evolution and not creationism. That being said, I do believe in a God and a heaven.

Will this be a problem if I want to embrace Christianity?

There may be certain hurdles, but not an impossibility.

My suggestion for you is an old addage:
"Don't put the cart before the horse."
Begin by reading verses and scripture.
Perhaps 1 Proverb per day (There are 31 to coincide for each day of the month.)
Simple words of wisdom mostly from King Solomon, and King David.
Then I usually do some prayer and worship with Psalms
From there, I hope that you will be guided thru by the inspiration of the
Holy Spirit.
The testamonies of Mathew,Luke,Mark and John
Will tell you all about Our Lord and Savior's Life,Death and ressurrection.
Get to know the Lord first then you can decide for yourself how the miracle of creation is possible.
Keep in mind that we are dealing with a "Supernatural Creator"
So,we must expect and believe in "Supernatural events"
Even in creation.
In the meantime have faith and God will bless your search for truth.
(My personal favorite Bible verse: Philipians chapter 4,verse 4)
Perhaps you will find it helpful.
Weclome to Christianity and God bless all areas of your life.

Jesus Christ will take you just as you are. He knows you and loves you now, and wants nothing more than to have a loving relationship with you. We will all attest to the fact that it is a relationship that truly will set you free. Bless you.

FallingWest,

Sounds like you're 'falling' the right direction... ...'East is least and West is best'..in aviation lingo.

Don't worry about embracing "Christianity"...just embrace Christ. Many fail to do that because they can't embrace 'the church', thinking it is the total representation of Christ, and it just isn't...not yet anyway. The church has its problems and Christ doesn't. Just seek him, and His love for you, first.

Though I am not catholic, I would suggest you read what Pope John Paul II said about evolution.

Evolution does NOT disprove the existance of God, and if you believe in an Almightly God, is it such a stretch to believe that He also made what we puny humans have named evolution?

I too believe in evolution, I just don't believe it's by accident. See, the bible teaches that for God, a day is like a thousand years. I see the days of Genesis 1 as periods of time, rather than as one single day. Another way that I look at it is God can see everything from beginning to end. So He could have created the universe all in 6 days, but it took billions of years for it all to develop. But in His eyes, He could see the end results from the moment that He spoke them into creation.
This can be very difficult to explain. I can look at an individual life, and see how that individual life evolves throughout it's life. A human starts as an embryo, becomes an infant, then a toddler, a child, then preteen to a teen, to a young adult, to a middle aged adult, to a senior citizen. With each stage comes new challenges, different health issues, and maturity levels. Different species have gone through different stages as well.
The reason that I can have faith that God created everything is because of the similarities. Every animal has 2 eyes to see, 2 ears to hear, skin that can feel, the ability to smell, so on and so forth, which gives all animals the ability to protect themselves and survive. Yet every species has differences, which is explained by God's love for variety. The fact is that there have been billions upon billions of people who have lived through out the centuries, but no two are exactly alike. The same can be said of all animals. All of this together adds up to an intelligent designer who can differentiate and love every creature uniquely. My thoughts on this subject can go much deeper, all the way down to dna, and atoms, all the way to the creations of the starts and planets and galaxies. It comes down to see God in the creation of everything. I would recommend the book of Job, especially when God finally starts questioning him about what it is he truly knows about the world around him, and how much he doesn't know, while all the while, God knows the answers to all of those questions and so many more.

As others have pointed out, evolution does not deny the existence of God. Though some scientists might bristle at the idea of the existence of God, science itself does not address that question one way or the other. There are plenty of us who believe that God created the universe, but did it much earlier than 4000 BC.

God's image is spiritual, it cannot be seen. We have the image of God if we are born again, because we have His spirit living within us.

That's right. That's all it says. Where does it say that God's image is two eyes, two arms, a mouth, a nose, and relatively little body hair?

So it's OK to kill unbelievers? After all, it's only because men are made in God's image that we aren't supposed to kill them. Genesis 9:6.

It is not what you believe that saves you, it is in Whom you believe. It is Christ that saves us and it is Christ who then leads us into all truth.

Why a Christian would want to cut the legs out from under one who is seeking to be free is beyond me. Education is no replacement for the mind of Christ, that is obvious.

If what people believes change what words mean there is no reason to even discuss things... All points are valid and anything is possible.

I'll suggest that people who claim Christ and deny His word need deal with their dilemma...

You presume to think something permanent that would in all likelihood be only temporary, perhaps the pour soul will never know now? Touche'. Well done.

To put it bluntly, no, it is not possible to believe in God without believing that He created the world from nothing. Because where is the basis of your belief in God? If we believe in God then it stands to reason that we have to believe the words of God written in the bible by God's prophets and scribes and apostles over a period of about 4,000 years. And in the bible, in the book of the beginnings, the book of Genesis, it tells us that God created the world in six 24 hour days.

God is love, and the way in which He showed and proved His Love for us is by sending His only begotton Son into the world to die for our sins so that we wouldn't have to die for them. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

"In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotton Son into the world that we might live through Him." (IJohn 4:9)

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends." (John 15:13)

So the first thing you need to do is to ask Jesus into your heart and life so you can be cleansed of all your sins and be washed clean by the blood of the lamb. Once you have done this you are automatically passed from death unto life. You have everlasting life and you will never die. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and He promised that He would never leave nor forsake you.

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, And this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." (IJohn 5:11-12)

"He that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:24)

Then Jesus and God the Father will come and live with you in your life forever. "And he that loveth Me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." (John 14:21)

"If a man Love me he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him and make our abode with him." (John 14:23)

Jesus will come and live in you and will manifest Himself to you and speak to you through the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will guide you into all truth and teach you day by day as you follow Jesus.

""Howbeit when He the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall he speak: and He will show you things to come." (John 16:13)

"But the comfortor which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."(John 14:26)
