Hey Fellas

A good buddy of mine had a funny chat with me about shaving or not shaving body hair....

He's a jock that I've played sports with in the past and has a very "manly" personality/ego. We finished playing in a pick-up game last week and were on the way home and I noticed he smelled pretty bad and his under arms had the most enormous bush of hair I'd ever seen in my life.

The smell/sweat combined with the plant-like bush of hair puffing out of his arms made me suggest possibly that he's got to start shaving that. I said this in the most funny way possible ....you know, like poking fun and nudging him with a hint. ...

He didn't seem to take it as well as I'd have thought. Not that he went ballistic or anything, but seemed slightly offended/embarassed. He's a muscular guy and whenever we work out or play sports, etc., he'll also sweat like a beast....his shirts are drenched and his underarms are foul with a bush of hair that puffs out several inches.

I'd have suggested trimming, if not shaving, but he dind't seem to take to what I was saying. Or maybe he did, but did't want to acknwlege it, hahahaa.

My other Muslim buddy mentioned that he always shaves body hair, because it's more clean that way (every part of body). His logic is that hair makes you sweat more and is also aesthetically displeasing. ...According to him, shaving is great for multiple reasons.

Alright, be honest if you answer......How many of you guys shave body hair (not head/face.....beneath that part)? Chest, back, underarms.......etc. ?

What are the pros/cons?

Well, I am gonna be very honest here, remember that Seinfeld episode where Jerry shaved his chest hair? Well what happened in that episode is true! It gets itchy and it does grow in thicker as it grows back. If you shave your legs, you can count on nicks, etc. too. It hurts! I hope that helps.

I shave my armpits a couple of times each summer. It reduces the sweat/smell and I think makes the deoderant work more efficiently.

Not enough hair on my chest or back to worry about.

Way down south gets a trimming and partial shaving every now and then when it seems too bushy.. It seems to makes sex a bit more enjoyable.

TMI but you did ask...

I shave my chest.

I know it grows back thicker.

It just means that I have to keep doing it.

I HATE how it feels when it grows in there.

So, every few of months . . . away it goes until it gets annoying again.

I trim but never shave it.

In Leviticus there are several instances where men are called to shave their body completely, as cleansing.

Trim, yes. Shave only face, and maybe back of neck after haircut.

I believe that shaving is my way of telling my wife I care at what she looks at. It shows her I care enough to ensure that she is visually stimulated. Of course my wife likes it when I keep trim. It might be different for other people. To answer the question....Yes i trim and shave everything but arm and leg hair.

My wife likes a hairy chest. She loves beards too, and complains whenever I have to shave it off for work. So, I've never shaved anywhere else either.

But that doesn't mean it's never been shaved. I have heart disease, and have to get checked often. Whenever they put the pads on, the nurse has to shave an area for each pad. By the time I get done, my chest hair looks like swiss cheese. But it all grows back and my wife is happy again.

We have a defibrillator here at work. There's a roll of duct tape with it to rip the hair off in case said hair is in the way.

Hello imit8him

It seems to me that a guy would have to be barbaric at heart to let his underarm hair grow like a cat's whiskers. There is such a thing as learning how to be a gentleman. It gets better responses from women.

When I was in high school, we were all jealous of the hairier guys, because we viewed them as more manly. Hairlessness was something we always associated with femininity. Given the dating success of my more hirsute classmates, at least a significant portion of the women apparently felt the same way. Obviously, things seem to have changed in the last 30+ years.
I trim my beard and shave my neck, the rest grows wild.

noP! Just occasionally some hair that might grow too long. I would though if my wife wanted me to. I don't really care that much.

I trim my underarm hair every month or two. Keeps the sweat down a bit, or at least feels like it.

I have two or three stray hairs down below my neck, on my way upper chest, about 3-4 inches long. I yanked them out last night.

What I hate is the nose hair. As I get older, it's become a more frequent trimming. Actually, I just yank them out with a tweezers.

And whenever the hair stylist offers to trim my eyebrows, I take them up on it. That way I don't look like this guy -->

After that, you may not need the defibrillator.

I hate both nose hair and hair growing out of your eyes as well.

Surely you don't have eyeball hair!!!

But for the eyebrow hair, it is really hard to trim those long suckers when you wear glasses. The frames are right there in the way.

Oh my, another freudian slip! I meant ears instead.

Yes, the lovely tufts of hair growing on the ears...

I got just enough ear hair to be obnoxious but not enough to make me look like the Wolverine. It is useless.

Just wait 'till it isn't only growing on the ears, but is growing from inside the ears.
