10 min miles are real good.

Umm I think I run on asphalt. It's a bike path.

Trails are nice to run on when its nicer out.

I am at a 11:45 min. I want to get down to a 10 min mile. It is going to take while, but I can do it again.

HPD found out the hard way this week that taking cinnamon supplements and training for a 5k do NOT mix.

What happened? I didn't think there were any side effects.

Well, it's supposed to be good for controlling blood sugar in people who have type 2 diabetes (he doesn't have diabetes-- was just trying it for other health benefits), but he found it seemed to be lowering his blood sugar too much. Or maybe affecting his glycogen synthesis. He started taking the pills Monday, and he says he felt like he was starting over way back at week 1 of our training when we ran Monday and Tuesday night running the same walk/run splits we ran a week ago. Absolutely no muscle endurance and no energy, with jell-o legs afterwards.

That's interesting. That's kind of what happened when I tried South Beach. No carbs=no running. Did he quit taking the supplements? Did the side effects go away?

I run on asphalt/concrete (roads, bike paths and sidewalks). And I run rain, wind, heat, cold or snow. Literally! I'm pretty die hard.

I run on asphalt/concrete, too. We have a recreation trail that I like to use for part of my run -- if it is daylight hours... it is harder these days to get the run in then...

I had a great run this morning. It was supposed to be 40* and rain so I dressed for it. I came downstairs and realized it was 50* and just wet. I changed into shorts and shortsleeves! I did my favorite route which is an out and back with a loop at the turn around. I hit the lap button on my watch when I enter/leave the loop. My splits for the out/back were dead even! I've never done that before! 6.25m at a 9:15pace.

He didn't take any cinnamon yesterday, and last night's run was MUCH better. Even so, I'm also nagging encouraging him to eat a little snack an hour and half or so before we run.

Well, I was able to pull my half-lifeless body out of bed this morning and went for a very hard 2 mile run. After getting back to my house, I lay on the floor for a while wishing I could get my pep back after that stupid cold...

I also finally found info on a run I was wanting to do that is coming up. I thought it was Thanksgiving day weekend but it's actually Thanksgiving DAY. That's family day and we have an entire herd of us getting together this year so I guess my next run will be in about a month - the annual Cable Bridge Run which is the best run of the year anyway... Here's hope we break 25F this year though...

Do you pay to run in the races? I want to do a race. It seems like it would give me an incentive for running.

I am so thankful. God has taken away my back ache. So my muscles are finally getting into the grove. Yeah!

Today I did a short bike ride and then did weights. Tomorrow I run.

I haven't come across a race yet that didn't have an entrance fee, although most are pretty inexpensive.

Our local races are like 25 to 30.00

However the bigger races are more, the freep press marathon was about 100.00 I think.

YAY! I started week three of the couch to 5k. I did pretty good, I think it was because I was concentrating on the baby monitor rather than the time readout on the treadmill. But I felt pretty good on those 3 mins runs. I'm getting there. I already feel stronger and leaner, although the scale doesn't say so.

5K's are usually about $25-30. For those, I usually choose one that's a fund raiser for an organization I would support. Because very few streets are closed, very little police support is required, etc, the only real cost is for the race proper--registration, race set up, and timing. These can be big money makers!

Half marathons are $30-50. It's a longer race requiring more police support as well as on course aid stations. There is on that I do that is only $15 because they are encouraging people to sign up for organ donation.

Marathons are $50-75 or more. Tucson was more, but they bus you to the top of the mountain. These races are expensive to put on--all the logistics, etc! Because I only do one or two per season, I'm willing to pay for them.

Now, triathlons... those get expensive!!!

I'm so tired and unmotivated this week. I've only been on one run...bleh. And today it's cold and extremely windy, so it's really terrible running weather. Bleh again.

Wow! We must have bargains around here. The most I've paid for a race (2 mile to 5K) is $15 (included a shirt). The least $8 (no shirts for sale). Many of our runs tend to be sponsored so I'm sure that helps them keep costs down.

I'm still having a hard time this week, but I was able to successfully drag myself out of bed this morning and ran 2 miles. The only bad thing was the temperatures really dropped last night so I wasn't prepared for the temps to be in the upper 20s on my run (they've been in the 50s). I wore a new jacket I bought last night (one of the special night running jackets which is really fancy and I'm glad it was on sale because even on sale I spent a pretty penny) but it's very thin and I really regret not wearing a long sleeve shirt under it... At least I wore my gloves and earmuffs... My arms were getting numb by the end though.

I had a not-so-good run this morning. It was 50* and rain. I did my longest run since my marathon. The run felt good. I mean, I was tired towards the run. But, it felt good to get out there and run my favorite route again. I was most disappointed when I looked at my numbers. A 9:45pace?! ACK!!! That's a full 30seconds slower than usual! How did that happen?! But, I did manage 10miles.

ANd I was late to work. Again...

I ran 2.5 miles today. Still struggling but running despite that. At least this time I felt good when I finished!

I ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill and walked 30 today. It's snowing outside and I don't feel like finding my gloves ! Ha. Maybe next weekend it will be clear so I can run outside.

For the longest time I hated running just because I got so bored with it. Ten minutes would seem like a lifetime. But once I started going to the gym and using the treadmill, I started to enjoy it. Now I can run outside and "get in the zone" to enjoy it.

Never felt healthier :)

I've never felt healthier since running either! It's great!

I ran 3 miles today and today it actually felt GOOD!!!! I hope that means I'm finally getting back into the swing of things after being sick.
