Oh sure, Donna. Delaying vaccines, especially in cases where there's been significant reactions, makes sense to me. But not vaccinating if you've got older kids going to foreign countries? Well, that's a whole different can of worms. My cousin's baby had seizures in response to whooping cough. So they denied all future whooping cough vaccines, and delayed and spread out the rest of them. Seemed like a reasonable response. Maybe for Elizabeth I'll ask about delaying MMR till 15 or 18 months.

Just to clarify...I don't know of anyone from our church who goes on mission trips without being fully vaccinated. It is strongly encouraged, maybe even required, that they take care of that stuff before they are permitted to go.

Do they do it at 13 months there? It's 18 months here. Really? They do it at 12 months at most practices here... Our Pediatrician doesn't do it until 18 months unless the parents request that it be done earlier. The problem with waiting to vaccinate until there is an outbreak is that you don't get immunity right away, it takes several weeks. Which is part of the reason why we decided to do Measles with Gabby.

How old was Gabby when you did measles? Unfortunately they can't do the vax for only measles - it's all 3 (MMR) or nothing.

Why do I keep thinking she's older than that? I didn't realize Jacob's only 4 1/2 months younger than her.
