I cannot neglect to tell y'all what happened at the end of church service today. I came back in from changing the little pooper and found my Brian standing up to sing "Great is Thy Faithfulness". It's the first time he stood in church to sing because it's hard to keep balance without having something to hold onto. But he told me he could not sit and sing that song. I stood with him and held his hand while we sang. God IS faithful. Okay, it may not sound like much, but in that moment, for me...it was like a hug from my Daddy God. Trust me on this.

Donna, I have been thinking of you a lot this week and you just made me cry. Watching Brian improve is sooooooooo cool... and I am now seeing just what that REALLY means. We sang Great is thy Faithfulness as our opening song this morning. We were lead by the associate pastor, who has not been back to church since a week ago Friday when family friends were bringing their kids home from a pizza trip and were hit by a drunk driver. As we were singing the first chorus, the driver and her husband came into the row behind me. The pastor's 10 year old (my nephew's best church buddy) spent 3 days in a coma, and it was this past Friday that he was first able to speak and eat. The Dr's didn't expect that for 4-6 weeks, depending on brain damage... The driver's 6 year old daughter has a broken pelvis, but is walking on crutches (and goes back to school tomorrow), which the Dr's didn't expect for 3 weeks, minimum. God is so very incredibly inexplicably awesome!!! It will be a long time before I can sing Great is Thy Faithfulness or It is Well with my Soul without truly feeling the depths of those words... I wish the same for you- that God uses this to help you understand, in a newer, deeper, soulfelt way, that He is Good, and in Control, and that he must have one BIG purpose for Brian's (and family's) lives..

He for sure is using this to teach us a lot of things. Very neat. Very awesome. Beyond words, really. I sometimes hear other people sniffling or see them crying when they look at Brian during church. I know we're not the only ones God is working on through this. That gives me strength on hard days. That is too cool that you sang the same song this morning and the story of your friends! Wow! Man, the things people go through are so HARD. But God is still so good. He is faithful even when we want to shake our fists at Him sometimes. He loves us even when we wonder if He really knows what He is doing. He's bigger than our doubts and fears! Way bigger! If you don't mind, could you give periodic updates on the families in your church? I'd appreciate that. And maybe PM me with their first names?

Ain't motherhood grand? A great sermon and poo up your baby's back. LOL...yup, it sure is. That's the first time she has done that in church. I did get to chat with a friend who had her new baby at church for the first time, so that was nice. Ruth, I hope going back to church will be wonderful for you. Maybe Nathan will go the nursery better now?

That is amazingly cheap, Donna. Is that just for use of the facility?

Progressive says they don't preauthorize expenses. So we'll pay for the class and then send in a receipt and the doctor's order and hope for reimbursement. I think they'll do it, but we'll see. They paid for the ramp materials and we gave it back to my dad, since he bought them. Probably would have paid for labor too, but I had a hard time convincing my dad to submit the materials receipts. I am ornery tonight. Brian has had a nasty cold the past two days. The man is miserable with a cold. When I have a cold...well, I'm a mom, not a dad. We won't go there. I think I'm irritated because I'm supposed to be recovering from surgery and I'm STILL doing more than he is. I guess I was looking forward to being waited on by him for a change and he's all whiny sick instead. Grrr. OTOH, I am realizing how very selfish I am. And before you all tell me I am not being selfish...don't bother. I know I am. I'm having a bad attitude and it's not right. It's not his fault he's sick. In funnier news...Hannah was once again lamenting the fact that Daddy can't do the bedtime routine anymore (4 months...you'd think she'd get used to it eventually??). She told Brian, "Daddy, you should have waited and let that tractor go 'round the corner first. Next time do that, okay?" LOL...okay, it's not really funny, but the way she said it, it was hilarious. Our kids are a riot.

Donna I had a similar selfish moment this weekend. Jeremy got the baby's cold and was out of commission. Usually I get a break on weekends from fulltime duty. He stayed home yesterday and today sick and I finally told him that I needed a break and was going to the store ALONE and he had to watch her. He said he was sorry he got sick and I should go and enjoy the escape. I went and got the needed items and enjoyed my time away, but I did also enjoy coming home and being missed/needed. I shook off the guilt of having felt anger about him being sick but he understands how much I need/appreciate the little me time breaks on weekends.

Selfishness isn't the desire to have one's needs met and feeling out of sorts when they aren't. Selfishness in when you act on those feelings and insist on having your own way and not being sensitive to the needs of the others that are around you, and even more so if others suffer as a result of that insistence. You are trying to do your best to balance out your needs with the needs of others, and that in itself can be exhausting. You are in a position where you need some babying and can't get as much as you need. If you are like me, only your hubby can baby you the way that you need. Cut yourself some slack and realize that you can only do as much as you can do. Trust God to stretch where you can't.
