They were *all* at church tonight and I approached her and she said that she really enjoyed your testimony It's incredible to see how God works, isn't it?

KuKu, I hate to be nosy, but what are you talking about?

Friends of KuKu's that were in a car accident a couple weeks ago. She sent me their caringbridge address and I left a note in their guestbook.

Brian and I read through the first 13 pages of this thread yesterday. I know he was pretty amazed at how many people that don't know him that care. Man, those were an emotional 13 pages... It was kind of hard for me to even see him reading about those days. I'm glad he did though.

I think that when the opening posts of any thread come up in the box - boy things have changed...

ETA: I don't believe the picture, I think Brian should come to my house and DEMONSTRATE that the photo isn't staged.

Never mind... found it on FB. Yeah, I'm thinking a live demonstration at my home is necessary for me to believe it, but we have hardwood floors. Can he use a mop?

A milestone I was not prepared for...

Brian got a phone call tonight. A friend from church lost a tire on their truck and another friend was trying to fix it for her on the side of the road, but having trouble. Brian was called, but couldn't tell them what to do well enough over the phone. He asked me if I minded if he went to help, even if helping means he sits in the van and gives directions. With my stomach in my throat and a smile in my face, I told him to go and take Noah. Then I also asked him to call the neighbor who goes to our church and take him with him too. And he went. He's been gone an hour now, and it's really snowy out tonight.

Deep breaths...he's not any less "safe" right now than he has been the hundreds of times he has gone to these kind of "Brian, can you help?" calls. This is who he is. He is a helper, a servant. I can't take that from him no matter how much I would like to hide him away so he never gets hurt again. But man, it's hard to sit here and wait for him.

God, I trust you with my boys. But I still feel like puking.

He's home. Deep sigh and relaxing of my whole body...

Pammy, he's been driving since two Sundays ago. But tonight was the first time at night. Also the first time in snow. And first time without me with him.

He's home.

Okay, God, that was a big enough test. No more for a while?

God never gives us more than we can handle, Donna. Sometimes it sure seems like it, huh?

That's awesome that Brian is able to go out and help others again!

And with all due respect, truly . . . I don't see Brian going out to help people last night as something that "Our Lord gave" to Donna (as in He doesn't give us more than what we can hande). I don't see it as a some type of a test neither. I actually see it as a Gift that Our Lord gave to Brian.

I see it as Brian getting on with his life . . . and THAT is such a Praise!!!

Donna, I absolutely am not belittling what you were feeling last night. And, I can certainly understand those feelings.

However, I truly see last night as a Brian-thing . . . a very wonderful, marvelous, Brian-thing. I think Our Lord did some wonderful healing things last night with Brian . . . for him to be able to go out, on his own, and give aid to a neighbor . . . I can imagine how empowering that was for him to do that.

My prayers last night for you were specifically for Our Lord's Peace and Comfort. My prayers were that you would remember then (last night), and always, that Our Lord covers Brian whether you are with him or not.

I don't say this at all lightly or frivously.
I say it out of my love for you.

Yup, I know. It was a wonderful thing for him. And he ended up actually fixing the problem himself, with a little bit of help for the things he couldn't reach. He was the only one there that knew how to do the job. I know it was a good thing for him in a lot of ways, and it does bless my heart that God let him have that opportunity.

My "issue" was not new from this accident. I've always been nervous about him being gone, especially in bad weather. I'm just realizing that I can't keep him safe (duh!) and God can and HAS.

God also didn't bring us to and through this so that we could live in fear. Driving is essential to our lives here and we can't be terrified every time a snowflake flies or we see a tractor. A friend of ours has a huge fear of driving and tried to use Brian's accident as an excuse to not drive anymore. I was uncharacteristically very bold and told her that was nonsense. She is still driving, and I'm glad. Not that it's always easy for me either, but we have to keep living. Living in fear is not really living.

I agree with that, except that I think that God might be starting off slow with a small thing so Donna doesn't freak out and can work into it at a pace that she can handle. BTW Russ is hoping to put the chimney through the roof tomorrow and... Oh, you don't think that God wants him on our roof in the snow yet? Never mind then.
