I look at it as Providential. A big ol' nudge from God to work through the things that have kept us freaked out and in bondage. Here we have a significant group of Christian women at the same place in the same time where we can share and read and know that we are not alone. Plus, we have the support, compassion and advice from Godly men whom we respect and trust.

This ain't no coincidence, gals.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Is it just me or did this week have at least 3 mondays in it?

Okay ... before I head to bed, which of you Denizens just requested to join the FB group? I approved ya, but I'm trying to match the name with a CW handle ...

I think an invitation was sent to me but I deleted it. I suppose I need to send another begging request.

I just want to say that even though I haven't experienced some of the same things you ladies have, you all have given me an extra dose of courage to speak up about something else. Within the past week, our town has had TWO teenage suicides. Last night, I had the opportunity to talk to our youth group at church about what people are thinking at those last moments, because I am a TWO-TIME suicide attempt survivor. The first time, I was Squid's age. The most recent, was almost nine years ago. I thank God that He wouldn't let me die, but that I could be used to work in someone else's life. I feel all of you sharing your experiences with sexual assaults and rape have helped me even though I never experienced that. I have the courage and strength to talk about MY ISSUES now too.

Anyway, I'm rambling now so I'll just say THANKS!!!

{{{{{Jeannie}}}}}!!!! I wish I could squeeze you for real. I thank God for you, my life would be so lacking without you in it.

My heart breaks at what you've experienced and what your town is going through now. I am SO glad that you shared what you know with your youth group. That took a lot of courage and you are a brave and selfless woman.

Oh I know. Just recently a couple were caught having sex at Thing 1's school.

He's in middle school.

They are growing up so fast that they're minds and bodies can't keep up. So skeery to have a teenager right now. *sigh*

But you know...I wonder if our parents thought that when we were growing up.

I know. I wanted to cry. Especially since one of them used to be friends with him.

After it happened and everyone caught wind of who it was, Thing 1 came home and said, "how can I possibly be friends with someone that has such little respect for himself? Plus, would people think I'm the same way?" was a huge wake up call for him.

That truly breaks my heart.

One thing that I have mourned (more than once) is the fact that I never had my innocence.

Babies are having sex with each other! That's what middle-school kids are - they're still babies; not literally, but figuratively.

This is what the world is teaching them; we are so sexually-saturated - t.v. shows, movies, advertisements, etc., etc. The message is very clear: Sex is the ultimate goal for everyone.

These kids see this.

I am sitting here in tears thinking about those kids. They're throwing away a most precious gift and they're throwing away their childhood and they don't even know it. And they can't get away from it because they are being bombarded with sex messages everywhere they go.

and with shows like gossip girl, where having sex in 10th grade is kewl, it's no wonder.

i always thought that shows like 90210 were bad, but looking back at them, there was always some kind of repercussion for doing bad things. tv today is just not the same as it was even when i was a kid, when everyone said how bad things were.

i mean, even something like an underwear commercial nowadays is practically pornographic. no wonder it's all they think about.
