It was the Lutheran Center at our university, and we had chapel every Sunday, plus lots of other activities together. To be honest, though, his older brother asked me out first, but I liked the younger brother better. Well, for whatever reasons, it seems that church is rarely useful in terms of finding one's spouse. That's what I see it as.

It seems that most people meet where they are most likely to be found, and that usually means work or school. Since meeting at the church house is a few hours a week compared to work or school, it makes sense that it would not be as likely to meet there.

Dh also changed churches in order to find a wife; his previous one didn't have many options. We did meet at church--it was his first time attending that church, and my second time.

Actually this many people mentioned church( or something to do with it) Szaftoo: church isaacsmom: church camp Bagel: church DaveW: church shadowspring: sunday school MisterTR: bible study faroukfarouk: At a Christian Conf. 1970rodney: church Galilee: Sunday School allisonbrett: single's class at church Plus these people mentioned it after you commented. Sideways: Lutheran Center myka: church I just had to point this out - because I met my spouse in church also. quote:

She was a bank teller at a drive up window and I was a customer making a deposit. As it turned out I made a withdraw.

I met my husband on a mission trip to Southeast Asia. We were both seminary students in the US and met only briefly, with the rest of our group, a few weeks before going overseas. Once we got there, our group divided into pairs to do the work, and he and I spent most of our time together. He asked me out once we came back to the US. We've been married now for almost four years.

I met my husband right here on Crosswalk back in the beginning of 2000. We had two group singles GT's, one in Pensylvania (2000) and one in Tennessee (2001). Between the 2 get togethers we struck up an even better friendship than we already had online just through the forums (with a occasional phone call and frequent e-mails). Just prior to the Tennesse GT we started thinking that maybe we could build on that friendship. We never actually got to discuss anything during the GT because there was always someone else around and we were never alone long enough to get into an in depth conversation as that. The day after I got home I got this long email stating everything he was thinking and how he'd like to see where God takes us. Two months after that we were engaged and 3 months after that we were married. We felt totally led by God and that this was what he wanted for us. I was in the states and he was in Canada so there was some legistics to work out but 2 kids and almost 7 years later and we're still going strong.

I met my Lady in the Marine Corps. I thought she was a sweet little filly and I decided to invite her on a rock climbing trip I was takin' with a buddy of mine. I really didn't have any romantic interest in her until that trip. We camped out in individual tents on Friday night, and woke up to start climbin' the next mornin'. Now, I don't have to tell you this, but most folks don't look their best after wakin' up in a tent after a humid night, but somethin' about this girl looked ALIVE! when she popped out of that tent. We spent the mornin' on the face of a rock, and decided to cool ourselves in a river nearby in the afternoon. The water was too darn cold for me to get in, but my buddy, already in the river, dared me to get in. I told him, "I'll get in if SHE gets in!". With that, she gave me this "come and get me" grin and proceeded to fall of in the water. That woman's been makin' a fool out of me ever since. I did get into that water that day. I went on to tell her Mama my intentions with her daughter the next week, and married her two months and a week after we met. We just celebrated (separately, unfortunately, seein' as how I'm in Iraq) our 6th anniversary and what a ride it's been! I'm lookin' forward to gettin' back to my Lady in a few months so we can go...uh...enjoy each others' company. Sure miss those kisses of hers... Jeff, USMC

My husband was introduced by a friend outside the church after the mass and everything starts from there. :)

Awesome...a chance to brag about my wife and reminisce on our first days together! Excellent thread! Actually, on a somewhat sad note, I was in the midst of separation and divorce when I met my wife. I was stationed way up north in da U.P., eh? (Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and north is a relative term to our Canadian friends ) But this really turns out to be a happy ending, almost fairy-tale like. A very good friend was intimately familiar with the failure of my marriage but was always looking after my best interests. He's the one who told me about a young lady I needed to meet (who turned out to be my soulmate as it were). I kept telling him no because I didn't need anything like that interfering with my marital situation. When it became evident my marriage was failing and nothing I could do would stop it, I made some dramatic life decisions for myself while putting my all into my children. I still avoided agreeing to meet this young lady my friend was so adamant I meet because I wanted to focus on my children and myself. At one point, unbeknownst to me, I "met" my wife at a skating rink picking up my children after a day of skating with their aunt. My friend's wife, my "future" wife (they were good buddies in nursing school together), and her children happened to also be skating. So when I went in to get my children, my friend's wife pointed me out to Roxann. Kind of a one-sided "meeting" I guess you could say, because I never even noticed her being I was 100% focused on my children. OK, so some days or weeks later, my children and I are at the movie rental store picking out a movie, and guess who's also in the same place? Yup, you guessed it...my friend, his wife, my "future" wife, and her children, also of course picking out a movie to rent. I didn't notice them, being completely wrapped up in my children, but my buddy noticed me at the checkout stand and hollered a "hello" to me. I turned around and returned the "hello" and proceeded towards the door with my children, when he called out to me again to turn around. Once I turned around and he had my attention again, he gave me this big smile and secretly pointed at my "future" wife and mouthed to me "this is her!". Trying to again be nice but to also remind him of my disinterest in any relationship at the moment, I shook my head with an emphatic "No!", but he wouldn't quit. Well, I didn't want to be rude and figured I would just at least acknowledge her presence, so looked back over. He didn't miss the opportunity and hollers over everyone, "Hey, Walt, meet our friend Roxann!". (He's getting a huge kick out of this, mind you.) So, I politely look over at her as she turns around, intending to just be civil, holler a polite "hello", then skidaddle outta there with my kids and our movie. I was completely stunned...she was so BEAUTIFUL! I don't even remember what I said. I'm sure I said something completely idiotic, then quickly removed myself from the store. I don't remember the ride home with my kids even (thankfully only a couple blocks away). When I got home and got the kids settled in with their movie, something in my brain told me to call my friend and invite them over to share a movie. This, of course, is exactly what my friend wanted to happen, so it was as if they were waiting for me to call and were at my house in an instant. We were formally introduced, got the kids settled in watching the movie, and proceeded to have a wonderful evening doing nothing but getting to know each other. I don't know if I can call it love at first sight. Doesn’t seem like a big deal…guess you had to be there. But looking back now that we're both Christians and seeing all the particular dominoes God had set up to fall to ensure we met, got married, and were together to help our children and other family members navigate through the storms of life, I have no doubt God set it all up. She is my soulmate, and I think God, because he knew Jesus would redeem us, gave me a glimpse of that even before I welcomed Jesus into my heart. The rest, as they say, is history...wonderful history still in the making toward eternity together. God's grace and peace to all.

I came out of my cave with a club, saw her, bonked her on the head and dragged her back to the cave. At least that is how my daughter see's it. BUt we really met online in a chat room. She asked me to call her that night and we talked for hours. Then I had to meet up with the ex-wife and then met up with my current wife, we went out on a date. Which she paid for and we have not been apart since. We have been married for 5 years as of today and been together for about 7 years.
