I am so excited about the premier! I am way late to the LOST party...I just started watching it last year (saw all of it via DVD). Hubby and I just finished re-watching season 5 and I am SO ready to get back into it!

I rewatched the season 5 finale last night and was glad for the popup commentaries because I found out what Richard's answer to Ilana's question, "What lies in the shadow of the statue?" was: "He who will save us all." Since Richard knew the answer, I figure that makes him a candidate in their eyes - but a candidate for what? To be their leader? And the answer to Frank's question that these people are "the good guys," which echoes Ben's answer to the same question, makes me wonder: Are Ilana's people other Others?

This is why I think Hurley is the key figure. He's the one in tune, or maybe out of tune, with the numbers. Or they're in tune with him. Whatever. He's also the one who can actually see and talk to the dead. Him and Locke are the two that seem connected to the powers that be. I think Smokey tried to kill Hurley by taking the form of his imaginary friend, trying to convince him it was all in his head, and then tempting him to jump off the cliff. Yep, Hurley's the key, IMO.

I didn't even think of that! It seems like Smokey can kill others but not Hurley.
The way he killed Eko was pretty violent.

Exactly!
Wouldn't it be weird if his name turned out to be Esau? I mean, when you think "Jacob" and "enemy", who's the first person that comes to mind? It's just a thought. Apparently ANYTHING is possible on this show.

OK, I just watched the season finale, and I know a lot of people hated, it but I liked it. And I watched the first few minutes of next season, and at FB I watched some season previews. I watched it twice, but I sort of wish I didn't watch it at all.

dctalkgirl - are there computers/internet access at your local library? If you bring headphones could you watch there? You could probably do that periodically - watch the episodes online at ABC. Usually, the online shows are shorter too - only about 40 minutes or so long.
I started watching Lost and was so excited. But I made the mistake of eating a big meal before hand - plus I've been tired because I've been working 10 hour days (with no break) plus I worked this weekend. So, after the first hour, I drifted off. I'm so tired now, it is ridiculous, so I'm signing off so that I can go to bed. So, I'll have to watch it online ...

I could not figure out what was going on at all! They showed the plane landing and everyone going about their business, however they did all in a way run into each other, but they were also still on the island....I'm not following at all.
